Ahead of the Windies tour, Indian cricket team’s skipper Virat Kohli attended the opening ceremony of the Pro Kabaddi League in Mumbai, where he expressed his affection towards Kabaddi and spoke about how the league has blossomed over the years, becoming a household name across the nation.
However, when asked about which players from the Indian cricket side can form a Kabaddi team of their own, he named a few based on the traits of strength and athleticism. He chose MS Dhoni without a second thought before picking pacer Umesh Yadav for his intensity and unparalleled strength. Kohli also didn’t shy away from bringing up his star player Jasprit Bumrah’s name into the foray as well.
“It requires a lot of strength and athleticism. So, I would say, MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, and Umesh Yadav. Umesh is really strong. Rishabh Pant as well. I would say Bumrah because he can really work on a toe-touch. One more… I am not even going to include myself because these guys are stronger and more athletic. The last one would be KL Rahul. That’s my seven.”

Kohli named Rahul Chaudhari as his favourite Kabaddi player and said the camaraderie between Chaudhari and Ajay Thakur for Team India and Tamil Thalaivas reminds him of himself and MS Dhoni.
"Rahul Chaudhari and Ajay Thakur. They have great camaraderie. So, I think those two would be a direct copy of me and Mahi [Dhoni]," Kohli added.
The 30-year-old also spoke about the global impact of Kabaddi mentioning how it is now a world-renowned sport and players are willing to travel and become a part of an elite Kabaddi league which is taking place in India.
