The Pro Kabaddi 2021 auction will be held from August 29 to 31 in Mumbai and will see more than 450 players going under the hammer during the three-day auction cycle.
The Pro Kabaddi 2021 auction has players listed as - domestic, overseas and New Young Players (NYPs).
They will be further divided into four categories - A, B, C and D. The base price of players in Category A is INR 30 lakhs and Category B is INR 20 lakhs, whereas the base price for Category C and D players are INR 10 lakhs and INR 6 lakhs, respectively.
Each team has a purse of INR 4.4 crore subject to the number of players retained by them ahead of the auction. A total of 59 players have been retained by the 12 teams for PKL season 8.
Most players released by their franchises including Pardeep Narwal, Rahul Chaudhari and Siddharth Desai will be part of the auction process.
That said, it must be mentioned that the auction rules allow franchises to re-sign their released stars through the Final Bid Match cards, which lets teams buy back players by matching the last auction bid price for the concerned player. The FBM rule has been in place since Season 6.
It’s also worth noting that not all three days of the auction will be telecast live. Only Category A domestic players’ auction will be aired live on TV on August 30.
