The opening two days of Khelo India Youth Games 2020 delivered what was promised. The teams battling for the top honour on the kabaddi mat showed grit and aggression to manifest what lies in store as the knockout round comes closer.

The third day, on the other hand, had a few firsts as Gujarat’s U-21 boys’ team registered their first victory of the tournament. Here are all the happenings from the Day 3 of the competition:

U-17 Boys

In Group A, Haryana started the day on a winning note, defeating Chhattisgarh 39-26, while Maharashtra thrashed Assam 48-17 in the second match of the group. Rajasthan, in Group B, got the better of Delhi 37-33, while Karnataka lost out to Bihar by 31-17 in a rather low-scoring game.

U-17 Girls

Haryana continued their domination in the U-17 girls’ category as they beat Delhi by a comfortable margin of 41-17 in the first match of Group A. Bihar squared off the group by defeating Kerala 30-21. In Group B, Tamil Nadu got he better of Chhattisgarh by 21-15, while Assam recorded their first victory of the tournament by narrowly defeating Madhya Pradesh 25-22.

U-21 Boys

Maharashtra started their day on a winning note by defeating Chandigarh 39-30 in Group A, while Gujarat finally opened their account by beating Assam 46-24. The Group B of the U-21 boys’ category had Uttar Pradesh getting better of Tamil Nadu by 38-28, and Haryana continued winning momentum by beating Telangana 64-25 in a one-sided affair.

U-21 Girls

Himachal Pradesh started off from where they had left, this time defeating Uttar Pradesh 24-21 in Group A. The closest game of the day was played between Assam and Tamil Nadu where the former emerged victorious by 25-24. Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh defeated Karnataka 27-23 in the first game of Group B, while Haryana owned Rajasthan by 51-27.

With three rounds done, the teams will now lock horns in the semi-finals, and this is how the schedule looks like:
