The men’s and women’s league matches in the kabaddi competition at Khelo India University Games will kickstart on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. The third edition of the sporting festival, Khelo India University Games 2022 will be held in Uttar Pradesh.
The kabaddi competition at Khelo India University Games 2022 will witness an evening start and the action will take place at the Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik (SVSP) Sports Complex in Greater Noida.
Three women’s and four men’s pool matches have been scheduled for the roster and the first game will be a Pool B clash between H.P. University Shimla and H.C.Y University, Durg’s women’s teams.
Meanwhile, the Pool A encounter between M.D. University, Rohtak and V.E.L.S. University, Tamil Nadu will be the first men’s match in the competition, beginning at 4:00 PM Indian Standard Time (IST).
As many as 15 university teams are participating in the kabaddi competition at Khelo India University Games 2022 with Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak being the only university that is fielding teams across both the women’s and men’s sections.
A total of 190 athletes have registered to participate in the competition and as many as 24 league matches will take place across three days with the final league encounter concluding on Thursday, May 25.
After the conclusion of the league-stage encounters, the semi-finals are slated to be held on Friday, May 26 while the finals for both the men’s and women’s categories will take place the following day on Saturday, May 27.
The last edition of the kabaddi competition at the Khelo India University Games took place in Bengaluru in 2022.
Kota University from Rajasthan emerged triumphant in the men’s category in the previous edition, while Kurukshetra University of Haryana had won in the women’s division. Both these teams are participating in Khelo India University Games 2022 and will be aiming for a successful title defence.
