Patna Pirates’ Mohammadreza Chiyaneh on Wednesday etched his name into the PKL history books as he became the defender with most high 5s in a season of Pro Kabaddi.
Players record high 5s in Pro Kabaddi by notching five or more tackle points in a match and Chiyaneh has been doing so frequently in PKL Season 8.
The young Iranian kabaddi player recorded his 10th high 5 in Pro Kabaddi Season 8 semi-final 1 as he helped Patna Pirates defeat U.P. Yoddha 38-27 to storm into the PKL final.
The left-corner defender Chiyaneh features 19th on the list for most high 5s in Pro Kabaddi with 10 high 5s in 23 matches.
By achieving this incredible feat, Mohammadreza Chiyaneh broke the previous record held by Surender Nada and Surjeet Singh, both of whom had registered nine high 5s during the fifth season of PKL.
While Surender Nada had recorded nine high 5s in 21 matches for Haryana Steelers in Pro Kabaddi Season 8, Surjeet Singh achieved the same landmark in 24 matches for Bengal Warriors.
Fourth on the list for most high 5s in a season of Pro Kabaddi is Nitesh Kumar. The U.P. Yoddha defender completed eight high 5s during the sixth edition of Pro Kabaddi League.
Interestingly, Surjeet Singh completes the top five list for most high 5s in a season of Pro Kabaddi as he had also registered seven high 5s for Puneri Paltan in Pro Kabaddi Season 7.
