The UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 begins with hosts England entertaining Austria at Old Trafford in Manchester on Thursday, July 7.
The 13th edition of the premier European competition in women’s football was set to be played in 2021 but was postponed to 2022 due to COVID-19.
The Women’s Euro 2022 will see a total of 16 teams, divided into four groups, playing a total of 31 matches. The league phase - comprising 24 matches - will be played from July 7 to July 19, with each team facing the other three teams in their respective groups once.
The quarter-finals will be played between July 21 and July 24, while the semi-finals will be held on July 27 and 28. The UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 final will be played on July 31 at London's Wembley Stadium.
Defending champions Netherlands will start their campaign on July 10 against Sweden.
The tournament will be played across 10 venues in different cities, namely, Brighton and Hove, Leigh (Designated as "Wigan and Leigh" by UEFA), London (2 stadiums), Manchester (2 stadiums), Milton Keynes, Rotherham, Sheffield and Southampton
As in men’s football, the winners of Women’s Euro 2022 will take on the 2022 Copa América Femenina champions in the UEFA–CONMEBOL Women's Finalissima.
