The UEFA Nations League 2022-23 will start on Wednesday, June 1 with Poland locking horns with Wales in the opening fixture at the Stadion Wrocław.
The third edition of the UEFA Nations League will witness all 55 UEFA member nations take part in the tournament with 16 top-ranked teams in League A competing for the third UEFA Nations League title.
France are the defending UEFA Nations League champions, having defeated Spain 2-1 in the final last year. Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal were the inaugural champions of the tournament as they beat the Netherlands in the summit clash.
France will host Denmark in matchday 1 of UEFA Nations League 2022-23 at the Stade de France while Italy will take on Germany at Stadio Renato Dall'Ara in Bologna.
The biggest clash of the opening matchday will see Spain lock horns with Portugal at the Benito Villamarín in Seville.
All the teams in the UEFA Nations League 2022-23 are divided into four separate leagues - A, B, C, D.
Each league comprises 16 teams with every group featuring four teams each. League D has seven teams with four in one group and three in the other.
League A features the top 16 ranked European teams, who will vie for the title. Each group winner makes the finals, which will be played in a knockout format.
Similarly, teams from the other Leagues will be playing for promotion to the higher tier for next year or to avoid relegation to the lower division.
Meanwhile, UEFA has banned Russia's national football team from participating in the competition following the Ukraine conflict.
