PSG boss Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Neymar will be available for their Champions League opener against Manchester United at Parc des Princes on Tuesday (Wednesday as per IST) after he was rested against Nimes in their 4-0 win over the weekend.
The Brazilian forward was left out of the squad in the game where Kylian Mbappe scored a brace as the game came just three days after his scintillating performance against Peru in the World Cup qualifier in Lima. Speaking about his forward, Tuchel confirmed that he decided to give Neymar a rest in order to have him at his full strength against Manchester United.
"Ney doesn't have any issue. We talked together, like I did with Kylian," the PSG coach said.
"We had an honest discussion and I decided to let him rest today. He will be with us tomorrow. He will train and get ready for the game against Manchester United.
"He will be on the pitch, for sure."
Neymar has missed as many as four of PSG's seven league games so far, with Kylian Mbappe has upped the ante in his absence, scoring four goals and three assists in just four appearances. The Ligue 1 champions lost both of their opening games of the 2020/21 season, but have been on a winning run since, scoring 16 goals in a mere five outings. This run in form represents a significant worry for Manchester United, whose defensive frailties have been exposed quite brutally this season. That coupled with the struggle in form further puts PSG in a favourable position.
What remains to be seen, however, is the fact that how United will use their new No. 7 Edinson Cavani - a former PSG striker.
