The UEFA Champions League 2021-22 semi-final will begin on Wednesday, April 27 with Manchester City taking on Real Madrid. The match will start at 12:30 AM IST (Indian Standard Time).
Real Madrid, who knocked out last season’s champions Chelsea in the quarter-finals, will be making their 31st appearance in the UCL semi-finals and will face a City team that finished as runners-up in the previous edition.
Real Madrid and Manchester City have met on six occasions in the past and have a balanced head-to-head record of each having managed two wins and two losses. The remaining two matches ended in draws.
Man City will host the first leg of the UEFA Champions League 2021-22 semi-final fixture at the Etihad stadium, while record winners Madrid will entertain Pep Guardiola’s Cityzens at the Santiago Bernabeu on May 5.
In the other bracket, Liverpool will be making their first UCL semi-final appearance since their championship winning campaign in 2018-19. The Reds will go up against a Villarreal team that last reached this stage in the 2005-06 season. As a matter of fact, the Yellow Submarines’ last semi-final opponent was an English team (Arsenal).
