Know Senior Women’s National Football Championship 2023-24 schedule, groups, venues and format

The Senior Women’s National Football Championship 2023-24 started on November 12. 

Organised by the All India Football Federation (AIFF), the Senior Women’s National Football Championship is the women's football tournament which is contested by state associations and government institutions in India.

As many as 30 teams are competing in the Senior Women’s National Football Championship 2023-24 across six different venues. These participating teams have been divided into six groups.

Group A features Manipur alongside Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram and hosts Uttar Pradesh. All Group A matches will be played at the Mahamaya Sports Stadium in Ghaziabad from November 24 to December 3.

Meanwhile, Group B comprises Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. 

DL Roy Memorial District Stadium in Krishnanagar, West Bengal, hosted all the Group B matches from November 15 to 19.

Bangalore Football Stadium in Bengaluru will host Group C matches from November 23 to December 2. Assam, Chandigarh, Karnataka, Kerala, Sikkim and Tripura are clubbed in Group C.

Group D includes Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Ladakh, Punjab and Uttarakhand. All Group D matches are being played at GNDU Sports Complex in Amritsar from November 15 to 24.

The likes of Arunachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Goa, Meghalaya and Odisha were placed in Group E. Matches in this group were hosted at the Sundargarh Stadium in Sundargarh  and the Biju Patnaik Mini Stadium from November 12 to 21. 

Meanwhile, Group F includes Andaman and Nicobar, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Railways. All Group F matches are being played at the SAI Ground and NIT Ground in Anu, Hamirpur from November 21 to 29.

The six group winners and three best runners-up will qualify for the Senior Women's National Football Championship 2023-24 final round to be held in West Bengal in April 2024. 

Defending champions Tamil Nadu, last season’s finalist Haryana and final round hosts West Bengal have directly qualified for the final round.

The final round will be staged in a similar format as last season with two groups of six teams each, from where the top two teams from both groups will qualify for the semi-finals.

Tamil Nadu pipped Haryana 2-1 in the 2022-23 final to clinch the Senior Women’s National Football Championship last season. It was their second triumph in the tournament after also winning it in 2018.

Manipur are the most successful team in the tournament’s history with 21 titles.
