Ronaldo has been in good form, scoring in all of Portugal’s group games so far and has turned around his disappointing campaign in the UEFA Euro 2024, where he failed to score.

Portugal head into the contest against Scotland on the back of a convincing 3-1 victory away at Poland in their last group game of the UEFA Nations League 2024-25 campaign and they will be keen to continue their 100% record in the competition.
Scotland, on the other hand, have had a disastrous start to the UEFA Nations League 2024-25 edition, losing all three Group A1 encounters. Scott McTominay has been the only bright spot for them, scoring twice in three games.
Scotland endured a 1-2 loss at Croatia despite taking the lead in their last game and they will be desperate for a turnaround in fortunes when they host Portugal on Wednesday.
Portugal are currently eighth in the FIFA Men’s football rankings whereas Scotland are placed 52nd as per the latest list.
The UEFA Nations League 2024-25 has a total of 54 teams, split into four leagues based on their international ranking. Three leagues A, B and C contain four groups of four teams each whereas League D has two groups of three teams.
Teams in League A will vie for the UEFA Nations League Final that is scheduled to be held in June 2025. All the four group winners and runners-up in League A will play a double-legged quarter-finals with the winners proceeding to play the semi-finals.
Portugal had won the inaugural edition of the UEFA Nations League in 2019 after beating Netherlands 1-0 in the final.

Portugal has an upper hand in their head-to-head record against Scotland with nine wins from 16 matches. In the most recent meeting between the two sides, Portugal beat Scotland 2-1 in the reverse fixture of the UEFA Nations League 2024-25 in Lisbon last month.
Meanwhile, Scotland have won four times against Portugal with their last win coming way back in March 1980 when they won 4-1 in the UEFA EURO 1980 Qualifiers. Three matches between these sides have ended in draws.
