The Santosh Trophy 2023-24 Final Round started on February 21 with Services beating Meghalaya 1-0 in Yupia, Arunachal Pradesh.
As many as 12 teams competed in the 77th edition of the National Football Championship for the Santosh Trophy 2023-24 Final Round.
These participating teams were divided into two groups of six teams each.
Group A comprised Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Goa, Assam, Services, and Kerala.
Karnataka, Maharashtra, Delhi, Manipur, Mizoram, and Railways were clubbed in Group B.
Hosts Arunachal Pradesh, last season's winner Karnataka and finalist Meghalaya automatically qualified for the Final Round.
The remaining nine places were secured by the six group stage winners (Goa, Delhi, Manipur, Assam, Services and Maharashtra), and the three best second-placed teams (Kerala, Mizoram and Railways).
As per the Santosh Trophy 2023-24 Final Round format, each team played the other sides in their group once in a single round-robin format.
The top four teams from each group advanced to the quarter-finals, followed by two semi-finals and the final.
All matches of Santosh Trophy 2023-24 Final Round were played at the Golden Jubilee Stadium in Yupia.
Services won the Santosh Trophy 2023-24 after beating Goa 1-0 in the Final.
Karnataka were the champions of the previous edition of Santosh Trophy after beating Meghalaya 3-2 in the 2022-23 final in Riyadh.
Meanwhile, West Bengal are the most successful team in the tournament’s history with 32 titles.
Punjab have clinched it on eight occasions while Kerala have bagged the coveted title seven times.
