The SAFF Women’s Championship 2024 will kickstart in Kathmandu on October 17.

Five-time champions India will be up against arch-rivals Pakistan in the opening match of the tournament at the Dasharath Rangasala Stadium, Kathmandu at 5:15 PM IST on Thursday. Live streaming of the SAFF Women’s Championship 2024 will be available in India.

Organised by the South Asian Football Federation, the SAFF Women’s Championship 2024 will have all seven members participating in the tournament which will have a total of 12 matches to be played over the next two weeks.

Defending champions Bangladesh join India and Pakistan in Group A while host Nepal, Maldives, Bhutan and Sri Lanka round off Group B in South Asia’s marquee women’s football tournament. 

Each team will play once against all the other teams in the group in a single round-robin format with the top two teams from each group progressing to the semi-finals of the SAFF Women’s Championship 2024.

Both semi-finals are slated for October 27 whereas the final is scheduled to happen on Wednesday, October 30. All matches in the tournament will be played at the Dasharath Rangasala Stadium in Kathmandu.

India are the top-ranked side in the SAFF Women’s Championship 2024 and are in the 68th place in the FIFA football ranking for women. Host Nepal are next at 99th and the only team other than India in the top 100.

Bangladesh are ranked 139th and Sri Lanka are at 157th while Pakistan, Maldives and Bhutan are placed 158th, 161st and 175th respectively. 

Bangladesh won the last edition of the SAFF Women’s Championship in 2022 by beating Nepal 3-1 in the final.

There will not be any live telecast of the SAFF Women’s Championship 2024 on any TV channels in India.
