Reigning La Liga champions Real Madrid will lock horns with Premier League outfit Chelsea in a highly-anticipated pre-season 2024 friendly at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The Real Madrid vs Chelsea pre-season friendly will start at 4:30 AM IST on Wednesday, August 7.

Under the tutelage of manager Carlo Ancelotti, Real Madrid will aim to bounce back after suffering a 1-2 defeat at the hand of arch-rivals FC Barcelona in their previous game at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Young striker Pau Victor netted a brace for Barcelona while Nico Paz scored a consolation goal for Madrid.

Earlier, Los Blancos started their summer tour of the United States with a 0-1 defeat against Serie A giants AC Milan at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois.

Milan winger Samuel Chukwueze scored the solitary goal of the match in the 55th minute as Madrid lost in their first high-profile encounter since they won the UEFA Champions League 2023-24 final against Borussia Dortmund in June.

Meanwhile, Carlo Ancelotti’s men will once again miss the services of new signing Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, Dani Carvajal and Ferland Mendy as they are on vacation after Euro 2024.

On the other hand, Chelsea will look to return to winning ways after they succumbed to a 2-4 loss against Premier League champions Manchester City at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.

Star striker Erling Haaland netted a hat-trick while Oscar Bobb also scored one goal to power City to an impressive victory over the Blues.

Led by newly-appointed manager Enzo Maresca, Chelsea pulled a couple back courtesy of Raheem Sterling and Noni Madueke.

Chelsea have struggled in the pre-season 2024 friendlies after they were held 2-2 by Wrexham and later lost to Celtic 1-4.

Their only pre-season 2024 friendly victory came against Club America with a 3-0 scoreline.

Ahead of the crucial game against Real Madrid, the Blues have received a massive boost with the return of Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo.

However, the likes of Marc Cucurella, Conor Gallagher and Cole Palmer are still on their post-Euro 2024 holiday.

Chelsea’s star striker Nicolas Jackson and defender Axel Disasi have been ruled out of the upcoming fixture due to injuries.
