Meanwhile, Barcelona thrashed Bayern Munich, another Bundesliga club, 4-1 in the third round of the UEFA Champions League on Thursday with Raphinha, another Brazilian winger, shining in this fixture with a hat-trick.
Barcelona are currently on top of the La Liga 2024-25 campaign with 27 points coming from nine wins and a loss after 10 rounds of play. The Catalan club pulled off an emphatic 5-1 victory over Sevilla in their last league outing with Polish striker Robert Lewandowski finding the net twice.
Real Madrid follow closely in the second spot with 24 points from seven wins and three draws in 10 matches. Madrid, who are yet to be beaten in La Liga this season, picked up a hard-fought 2-1 win at Celta Vigo in their last match in the league with both Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior being on the scoresheet.

Madrid beat Barcelona 3-2 the last time these two teams met in the La Liga in April 2024. Barcelona beat Real Madrid 2-1, albeit in a club friendly in New Jersey in August, just before the start of the 2024-25 season.
