Paris Saint-German (PSG) will be looking to put the final nail in the coffin when defending champions Bayern Munich travel to Parc des Princes for the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday
PSG won the first leg UCL quarters match against Bayern 3-2 last week. Neymar starred in the tie at the Allianz Arena when the Brazilian’s double assists ensured that PSG returned home with three crucial away goals.
Kylian Mbappe’s brace and Marquinho’s goal proved to be the difference as the Bavarians felt the absence of Robert Lewandowski in an end-to-end thriller. Watch PSG vs Bayern Munich live in India!
The defeat has proved to be a dampener for the Bundesliga giants, who were held to a 1-1 draw by Union Berlin during the weekend. PSG, on the other hand, have regained their form as they come to the second leg on the back of a dominating 4-1 win over Strasbourg.
The Ligue 1 giants have been the better side historically in this fixture, as they have won six of their 11 matches against Bayern. However, Bayern Munich won it mattered the most during the 2020 UEFA Champions League final against PSG.
PSG team news and injury updates
PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino will be happy to welcome back as many as three players for the crunch clash. While full-back Alessandro Florenzi and midfielder Marco Verratti have now recovered from COVID-19 that kept them out of the last fixture, Leandro Paredes is also available for selection after serving his suspension.
However, PSG have a long injury list as well. Last match’s goal scorer Marquinhos, first-choice goalkeeper Keylor Navas, star striker Mauro Icardi and the reliable left-back Layvin Kurzawa are all major doubts for Wednesday’s game.
Bayern Munich team news and injury updates
Hansi Flick, on the other hand, will continue to miss Robert Lewandowski to injury. To make things worse, young Serge Gnabry won’t be available after testing positive for the novel coronavirus. Winger Kingsley Coman, who had scored the winner for Bayern in last season’s UCL final, is also a doubt with injury.
