The 2021-22 Premier League season will begin on August 14, 2021, and conclude on May 22, 2022, the Premier League announced on Thursday.

The upcoming campaign will revert to its usual start in the second week of August and the final matchday will see all 10 games kick-off simultaneously.

Earlier, Premier League clubs had proposed for a later start to the 2021-22 season, as the ongoing campaign will only conclude on May 23 and players will be involved in the rescheduled Euro 2020, which will run from June 11 to July 11.

Additionally, teams have been granted a request to extend the summer break on account of the packed schedules over the last two seasons. Players who reach the final of the European championship will have 34 days’ rest.

Earlier, the 2019-20 Premier League campaign was suspended on March 13, 2020, when the virus broke out globally and did not resume until June 17. Similarly, the 2020-21 season got a delayed start on September 12, 2020.

While it was rumoured that the Premier League would begin on the same day as the EFL - August 7 - the English top-tier league will get underway on August 14.
