UEFA Euro 2024-bound Portugal will be seen in action when they face Sweden at the Estadio Dom Afonso Henriques in Guimaraes, Portugal on Friday. The international friendly between these teams will begin at 1:15 AM.
Placed in Group F alongside the likes of Czech Republic, Turkey and one from Georgia, Luxembourg, Greece, or Kazakhstan, Portugal will be looking to use the international friendly against Sweden as an opportunity to finetune their team ahead of the European Championships 2024 in June.
Under the tutelage of head coach Roberto Martinez, Portugal won all 10 of their Group J encounters in their UEFA Euro Qualifiers campaign and are one of the favourites for Euro 2024.
They will be expected to come out on top in their friendly against Sweden, who did not qualify for UEFA Euro 2024 but are looking for a fresh start with new head coach Jon Dahl Tomasson.
Both teams will be without a few key players for the upcoming friendly. Portugal will miss the services of Renato Sanches, Joao Mario, Diogo Jota, Ricardo Horta, and Pedro Neto due to injuries, while Diogo Dalot, Joao Cancelo, Danilo Pereira, Otavio, Ruben Neves, Vitinha, Joao Felix, and Cristiano Ronaldo have all been rested for the match.
Meanwhile, Swedish regulars like Isaac Kiese Thelin, Jesper Karlsson, Martin Olsson, Viktor Claesson, Kristoffer Olsson, Marcus Rohden, Filip Helander, Jesper Karlstrom, Robin Quaison, and Ken Sema miss out due to either bad form or injury.
