After a pulsating 3-3 draw against Ukraine in their last friendly outing on Monday, the Germany national football team will be back in action when they travel to face Poland.
The friendly between these two European nations will take place in the National Stadium Warsaw on Saturday (IST), June 17 at 12:15 AM.
Hosts of UEFA Euro 2024 Germany will enter this contest as slight favourites despite not being in the best of form of late.
They are winless in their last two outings but will fancy their chances of a win against Poland. Niclas Fullkrug was on the scoresheet in the 3-3 draw against Ukraine and it wouldn’t come as much of a surprise if he finds the back of the net against Poland since he’s scored seven times in his last seven appearances for Die Mannschaft.
With players like Fullkrug, Matthias Ginter, Antonio Rudiger, Joshua Kimmich, Leroy Sane, Kai Havertz, Jamal Musiala, and Leon Goretzka, all a part of the team, there’s no reason why Germany shouldn’t expect a comfortable win despite playing away from home.
Poland, on the other hand, will be hoping to make the best use of this friendly against UEFA Euro 2024 hosts Germany ahead of their qualifiers for the European Championship against Moldova next Wednesday.
They have one win and a loss in their UEFA Euro 2024 qualifiers and will be hoping to finetune their team in the friendly against the Germans.
Coached by former Portugal manager Fernando Santos, Poland have plenty of talented players in their squad.
While Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski is the team’s talisman, the likes of Damian Szymanski and Karol Swiderski were on the scoresheet in Poland’s most recent outings.
Furthermore, players like Arkadiusz Milik, Matty Cash, and youngster Nicola Zalewski could also play a big role in the match with good European pedigree at club level behind them.
As far as the head-to-head is concerned, Germany and Poland have squared off 21 times with the former winning on 13 occasions and the latter claiming just one win. There have also been seven draws between these two sides.
