Unbeaten under Khalid Jamil, NorthEast United (NEUFC) are gearing up for the first-leg of their Indian Super League semi-final as they take on a confident ATK Mohun Bagan (ATKMB) team on Saturday, March 6, at the GMC Bambolim Stadium.
The Highlanders are enjoying a brilliant form of late as they are unbeaten in all of their last 10 ISL fixtures, beating the likes of league leaders Mumbai City FC, ATK Mohun Bagan, Jamshedpur FC and Kerala Blasters.
This will be the third meeting between NorthEast United and ATK Mohun Bagan in ISL 2020-21 and the results have been shared with both winning a game apiece. The recent result saw NEUFC pipping ATKMB 2-1, courtesy of Federico Gallego’s 81st-minute goal.
It is going to be NUEFC’s only second ISL semi-final appearance. The last time they managed to reach the stage was in 2018 where they lost to Bengaluru FC. As far as ATKMB are concerned, they fumbled in their final league stage game against Mumbai City FC, losing out on the League Winners’ Shield only on goal difference.
