The Indian football team will aim to register their first win of the SAFF Championship 2021 when they take on Nepal in their third group stage match at the Maldives National Football Stadium on Sunday, October 10.
The Blue Tigers are without a win in the SAFF Championship 2021 having drawn both of their group stage matches. They kicked off their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Bangladesh followed by a 0-0 stalemate against Sri Lanka on Thursday.
As far as Nepal are concerned, they have won both their opening encounters against defending champions Maldives (1-0) and Sri Lanka (3-2) to sit on top of the standings.
India vs Nepal head-to-head record
Sunday’s meeting between Nepal and India is going to be their third match in 2021. The two teams locked horns in early September in international friendlies and the Blue Tigers registered a 2-1 victory with goals coming from Farukh Choudhary and Sunil Chhetri. The other match ended in a 1-1 draw.
Overall, India hold an outright advantage over Nepal as they have won 14 of their 21 matches against them while losing just five. In fact, Nepal’s last victory over India dates back to the 2013 edition of the SAFF Championship. Since then, India have won five of their last seven meetings and two matches have ended in draws.
