Premier League champions Manchester City will square off against arch-rivals Manchester United in the FA Community Shield 2024 final at Wembley Stadium in London on Sunday, August 10.

The FA Community Shield is the annual curtain-raiser of the new England football season contested between the winners of the Premier League and FA Cup holders. In case, the Premier League winner also won the FA Cup, the league runners-up compete in the FA Community Shield final.
Under the tutelage of manager Pep Guardiola, Manchester City scripted history last season as they became the first team to win the Premier League title four times in a row.
City will head into the FA Community Shield 2024 final after they concluded their pre-season tour of the United States with a 4-2 win over Chelsea at the Ohio Stadium.
In the absence of several first-team stars including the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Rodri, Kyle Walker, John Stones, Phil Foden, Jeremy Doku, Ruben Dias and Manuel Akanji, City suffered defeats against Celtic, AC Milan and Barcelona in their pre-season 2024 friendlies.
However, Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias, Manuel Akanji, Jeremy Doku, Matheus Nunes and new summer signing Savio have returned to training and could be included in the Manchester derby matchday squad.
On the other hand, Manchester United pipped Manchester City 2-1 in the FA Cup 2023-24 final to secure their spot in the FA Community Shield 2024 final.
Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo netted a goal each in the first half to guide United to their 13th FA Cup title.
For City, Doku scored the consolation goal in the 87th minute.
Despite clinching the FA Cup title, the Red Devils will aim to compete for the Premier League 2024-25 title after finishing eighth last season.
Meanwhile, United have had a mixed pre-season 2024 with two wins and three defeats.
While Erik ten Hag’s men beat Rangers and Real Betis, they suffered losses against Rosenborg, Arsenal and Liverpool.
Ahead of the much-awaited Manchester derby, United have received a massive boost with the return of their senior players including Bruno Fernandes, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Diogo Dalot, Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho at Carrington.
However, United will miss the services of new signing Leny Yoro, Rasmus Hojlund and Tyrell Malacia due to injuries.
Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans are also doubtful for the FA Community Shield 2024 final.
Arsenal are the current holders of the FA Community Shield while Manchester United are the most successful team in the competition's history with 21 titles. Manchester City have won the competition on six occasions.
