Premier League giants Liverpool will lock horns with German outfit SV Darmstadt 98 in their final pre-season 2023 friendly at the Deepdale Stadium in Preston on Monday, August 7. The Liverpool vs Darmstadt pre-season friendly will start at 11:30 PM IST.
Under manager Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool head into the new season with mixed pre-season results.
The Reds started their pre-season 2023 with a 4-2 win over German side Karlsruher at the BBBank Wildpark in Germany. However, they were soon held to a 4-4 draw by German second division club SpVgg Greuther Fürth.
Jurgen Klopp’s men later thrashed Leicester City 4-0 at the Singapore National Stadium, before succumbing to their first pre-season 2023 defeat against Bayern Munich at the same venue a few days later. Liverpool went down to Bayern 3-4 in their final game in Singapore.
Liverpool will aim to return to winning ways ahead of their Premier League 2023 opener against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on August 13.
On the other hand, newly-promoted Bundesliga club Darmstadt are currently on a four-match winless streak in pre-season.
Darmstadt head into the Liverpool clash after two goalless draws versus SV Sandhausen and Karlsruher. The German side earlier suffered defeats against FC Gießen and Norwich City.
Going by the two squads, Liverpool will start as overwhelming favourites against Darmstadt as they aim to wrap up their pre-season on a high.
