Liverpool (LIV) host defending champions Manchester City (MCI) in Gameweek 7 of Premier League 2021-22 at Anfield on Sunday, October 3 at 9:00 PM IST.
LIV vs MCI Dream11 prediction
While Liverpool sit at the top of the Premier League table with 14 points, their recent record against defending champions Man City isn’t great. The Reds have won just one of their last seven Premier League matches against the reigning champions, with that win coming in the 2019-20 season.
Liverpool vs Manchester City has always been a feisty affair, to say the least. At least one goal has been scored in each of their last six meetings in all competitions. And while Liverpool does have home advantage, City showed that it doesn’t count for much when they defeated the Reds 4-1 in their clash at Anfield last season. That said, it’s a tough game to call with a draw being a distinct possibility even though Liverpool will back themselves to secure maximum points in front of their vociferous fans.
LIV vs MCI Dream11 team tips for Premier League 2021-22
Top tip: Best forward
Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has always spelled trouble for Manchester City. The Egyptian has been involved in six goals in his five matches against Manchester City and is rightly expected to add more to his tally over the weekend.
Top tip: Best midfielder
With Ilkay Gundogan out and Kevin de Bruyne struggling for form, Manchester City’s Jack Grealish becomes an automatic pick for a midfielder. The 26-year-old has been involved in four goals this season (G2, A2) and his record against Liverpool is something that will give him confidence. His last appearance against the Reds came in an Aston Villa shirt when Grealish became the first player in Premier League history to have a hand in five goals in a single game against Liverpool (G2, A3).
Top tip: Best defender and goal-keeper
With Alexander-Arnold out, Andrew Robertson becomes the outright choice for a defender. The 27-year-old may not have provided as many assists as he would have hoped this season, but there’s always room for him to deliver considering his attack-minded mentality from the back.
As for a goalkeeper, while it’s tough to choose between Ederson and Alisson, going with the former makes sense not just because of his ability to keep clean sheets but also due to his excellent distribution of the ball.
