Last year’s finalists ATK Mohun Bagan will inaugurate the Indian Super League 2021-22 season with a matchup against Kerala Blasters at Fatorda Stadium in Goa on Friday, November 19.
The eighth season of India’s premier football competition will be played across three different venues, namely, the Fatorda Stadium in Margao, the GMC Athletic Stadium in Bambolim and Tilak Maidan Stadium in Vasco da Gama.
The home games of ATK Mohun Bagan, defending champions Mumbai City FC and NorthEast United will be played at Fatorda while the likes of Bengaluru FC, FC Goa, Hyderabad FC and Jamshedpur FC will play their home matches at the Athletic Stadium. Meanwhile, Tilak Maidan will serve as home to Chenaniyin FC, East Bengal, Kerala Blasters and Odisha FC.
Furthermore, the ISL 2021-22 season will be played under a new rule. As per this, one club can have a maximum of six and a minimum of four foreign players in the squad. At least one overseas player should be from an Asian Football Confederation (AFC) affiliated nation. Last season, the clubs were allowed a maximum of seven and a minimum of five foreign players.
