The Indian national football team will face neighbours Bangladesh in their seventh group match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup and 2023 AFC Asian Cup joint qualifiers at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium in Doha, on June 7, Monday.
After succumbing to their third defeat at the World Cup qualifiers on Thursday against Qatar, the Blue Tigers now sit fourth in the Group E points table. With three points from six matches, Sunil Chhetri and Co. are one point ahead of bottom-placed Bangladesh, who drew 1-1 with Afghanistan in their last match.

Though India’s chances of qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World cup are over, the Blue pilgrims will be hoping to see their side clinch a spot in the 2023 AFC Asian Cup by finishing among the four best fourth-placed teams across all groups.
Even if India fail to do that, they will get another chance through the qualifying play-off round to seal an Asian Cup place.
India drew 1-1 against Bangladesh in their earlier World Cup qualifiers match at the Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata, in 2019.
However, this time, India will be without the experienced Rahul Bheke, after the full-back was sent off in the last game. Meanwhile, Rowllin Borges is out with an injured hamstring and Anirudh Thapa has contracted COVID-19.
