The Indian football team will take on UAE in their second Group E match of the AFC U-23 Asian Cup 2022 qualifiers at the Fujairah Stadium in UAE on Wednesday, October 27. The game will kick off at 10:00 PM IST.
The Blue Tigers are close to making their debut at the AFC U-23 Asian Cup 2022 main tournament, following a 2-1 victory over favourites Oman in the opening tie of their Group E qualifiers.
First-half goals from Rahim Ali - a penalty in the seventh minute - and Vikram Partap Singh’s 38th minute strike virtually sealed the game for India while a lacklustre Oman had to wait until the 89th minute to get a consolation goal via Waleed Salim Al Musalmi.
UAE, on the flip side, fell to a disappointing 1-2 loss against Kyrgyz Republic. The hosts began the fixture on the front foot with Khaled Al Balochi getting the breakthrough in first half additional time.
But what they didn’t see coming was Krygyz pulling off a stunning come-from-behind victory thanks to goals from substitutes Amir Zhaparov and Arlen Sharshenbekov.
UAE need to get a positive result to keep their faint hopes of qualification alive, although should Kyrgyz Republic register a win against Oman, they could miss out on qualification for a second time in five attempts.
