India will lock horns with Iran in their second Group G match of the ongoing AFC U20 Asian Cup 2025 qualifiers at the New Laos National Stadium in Vientiane, Laoson.

The India vs Iran, AFC U20 Asian Cup qualifiers will start at 2:30 PM IST on Friday, September 27.

Under head coach Ranjan Chaudhuri, India began their AFC U20 Asian Cup 2025 qualifiers campaign in an emphatic fashion as they defeated Mongolia 4-1 at the New Laos National Stadium on Wednesday, September 25.

The Blue Colts got off to an impressive start as Kelvin Singh Taorem gave India an early lead in the 20th minute.

Meanwhile, Mongolia later suffered a massive blow as their captain Sodbilguun Tumen-ulzil was given a red card for a bad challenge on Gwgwmsar Gayary.

While India dominated Mongolia throughout the first half, Ranjan Chaudhuri’s men conceded a goal against the run of play as Temulen Uuganbat equalised just before the half-time break.

India later started the second half with two goals in a span of four minutes courtesy talented midfielder Manglenthang Kipgen.

The Blue Colts relentlessly tormented the opposition goal as Korou Singh Thingujam later made it 4-1 in the 87th minute.

On the other hand, Iran thrashed Laos 8-0 in their AFC U20 Asian Cup 2025 qualifiers opener on Wednesday.

With the thumping victory, Iran are currently placed on top of the AFC U20 Asian Cup qualifiers Group G standings with three points, followed by India who are placed second based on goal difference.

As many as 45 out of 47 AFC member associations are competing in the AFC U-20 Asian Cup 2025 qualifiers. These teams are divided into 10 groups, five groups of five teams, four teams in other five groups.

The top teams from each group, along with the five best second-placed teams from 10 groups will qualify for the final tournament to be hosted by China from February 6 to 23, 2025.

Uzbekistan are the defending champions of the AFC U20 Asian Cup while South Korea are the most successful team in the tournament’s history with 12 titles.
