AFC Women’s Paris 2024 Olympics Qualifiers: Get Indian football team’s Round 2 schedule and fixtures

The Indian women’s football team will kickstart their 2024 AFC Women’s Olympic qualifying tournament against Japan at the JAR Sport Complex Stadium in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on October 26.

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) recently announced the Round 2 fixtures of the AFC Women’s Paris 2024 Olympics Qualifiers Football Tournament. AFC earlier announced the draws in May.

Currently ranked 60th in the FIFA rankings, the Indian women’s football team is placed in Group C alongside Japan, Vietnam and Uzbekistan.

Ranked 11th in the world, London 2012 silver-medallists Japan are the top-ranked side in the group. Meanwhile, Vietnam are currently placed 32nd in the FIFA rankings, while hosts Uzbekistan are ranked 49th in the world.

After starting their AFC Women’s Olympic Qualifiers against Japan, India will lock horns with Vietnam at the JAR Stadium on October 29.

The Blue Tigresses will later play their final Group C fixture against Uzbekistan at the Bunyodkor Stadium on November 1.

Earlier, India booked their place in Round 2 after thrashing Kyrgyz Republic (5-0 and 4-0) in the two-legged playoff in Bishkek.

Meanwhile, Round 2 of the AFC Women’s Olympic Qualifiers will see 12 teams compete in the tournament.

The three group winners and the best-ranked runners-up from the second round will advance to the next round.

The top two teams in the third round will qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympics women’s football tournament as the AFC representatives.

Under head coach Thomas Dennerby, India women’s football team will look to qualify and make their debut at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
