Ace striker and Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo continued to break records, albeit off the field this time. The striker became the first person to reach 300 million followers on Instagram, shortly after becoming the all-time top scorer at the Euros.
The top-flight footballer is immensely popular and is worshipped as an idol for his work ethic and passion the world over.
Ronaldo was also the first person to breach the 200 million followers milestone on the platform ahead of singer Ariana Grande. Only the official Instagram account itself -- with 339 million followers -- is ahead of Ronaldo making him the leading person on Instagram.
The other footballers in the race that hold a major Instagram presence are Lionel Messi (219 million) and Neymar (152 million).
The 36-year old Ronaldo scored a brace on Tuesday to become the leading Euro scorer of all-time with 11 goals surpassing the French legend Michel Platini. This is Ronaldo’s fifth Euro appearance, another record in itself.
The eminent superstar was recently in the news prior to their opening Euro 2020 group match against Hungary when he removed two Coca-Cola bottles from his table in a press conference that severely impacted the soft drink giant’s brand value.
The Juventus striker is also just three goals away from equalling Iranian Ali Daei’s all-time record of 109 international goals.
