Table-toppers of the Indian Super League last season, FC Goa will host an unbeaten NorthEast United FC side at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Margao on Monday, November 30.
FC Goa have had a tough start to their ISL 2020-21 campaign having picked just one point in their opening two matches. They found themselves 0-2 down in their season opener against Bengaluru FC but fought back to earn a point owing to a brace from Spaniard Igor Angulo.
In their second game, they hosted former coach Sergio Lobera, now with Mumbai City FC, and succumbed to a devastating 0-1 loss courtesy of a 95th-minute winner from Adam le Fondre. The home side had fought valiantly for close to an hour after being reduced to 10-men in the first half but lost in what was essentially the last kick of the contest.
NorthEast United, on the other hand, are coming into this contest unbeaten, with a win and a draw to their name so far this season. A penalty from striker Kwesi Appiah in the opening minutes of the second half was enough to secure three points against 10-men Mumbai City FC in their season-opener.
They too fought back from a 0-2 deficit against Kerala Blasters in their second match, as goals from Appiah and substitute Idrissa Sylla secured a point for the Highlanders.
While FC Goa seek a morale-boosting victory, NorthEast United will aim to secure a win and climb to the summit of the ISL 2020-21 points table.
