Liverpool’s away trip to Old Trafford on Sunday, October 24 headlines Gameweek 9 of Premier League action. The fixture marks the start of a gruelling run of matches for Manchester United as they are set to play an away match against Tottenham and a home match against neighbours Manchester City in the coming weeks after the Liverpool clash.
Meanwhile, Arsenal will kick start the upcoming Gameweek with a home match against Aston Villa. The match will kick off in the early hours of Saturday (12:30 AM IST), October 23. It will be followed by exciting fixtures like Chelsea vs Norwich, Brighton vs Manchester City and West Ham vs Tottenham.
With so much action to look forward to, here are our top picks for Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 9:
Best attacker: Jamie Vardy
The Leicester City forward is currently the joint top-scorer in the league with seven goals and five of those strikes have come in his last four appearances. Now, a match against Brentford sure makes for a tricky encounter, but Vardy’s rich vein of form makes him a must-have pick in your fantasy team for the upcoming gameweek.
Best midfielder: Mohamed Salah
Considering the form Mohamed Salah is in at the moment, the Manchester United defence must be at their very best to neutralise him over the weekend. The 29-year-old scored three goals in two matches against the Red Devils last season and a goal on Sunday will make him the first Liverpool player to score in three consecutive matches against Manchester United.
Best defender: Ben Chilwell
Chelsea full-back Ben Chilwell is back in the Blues team after missing six consecutive matches early in the league. Since his return, the 24-year-old has scored two goals in his last two Premier League games, including a winner against Brentford. His form has made him the most-bought defender ahead of GW9 and a home game against Norwich is likely to help him add to his tally of 23 FPL points.
Budget player: Andros Townsend
Andros Townsend has enjoyed a great run of form of late. The Everton winger has scored three goals and provided an assist in his last three outings. He will be up against a Watford team with a poor defensive record which has seen them concede 15 goals in eight matches this season. Only Norwich (16) and Newcastle United (19) have conceded more goals than the Hornets and needless to say, Townsend will be looking to cash in on Warford’s defensive frailties come Saturday.
