Manchester City will kickstart the FA Cup 2021-22 third round action with an away game against Swindon Town in the early hours of Saturday, January 8. Out of the 64 participants, as many as 62 teams will be in action over the weekend while Manchester United and Aston Villa lock horns at Old Trafford on Tuesday, January 11.
Defending champions Leicester City begin their FA Cup campaign with a home game against Watford while last season’s finalists, Chelsea, entertain Chesterfield at home. Furthermore, while the likes of Tottenham and Liverpool are playing at home, Arsenal will make a trip to the City Ground to take on Nottingham Forest.
This is the first round that the teams from the Premier League and the EFL Championship are making an appearance in the competition. Prior to this, clubs from tier three and below had battled in order to progress.
