Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are chasing a quadruple this term and the second piece of silverware that awaits them is the FA Cup. The Reds secured a hard-fought 3-2 win over Manchester City in the semi-finals to enter the Cup final for the first time since 2012.
Liverpool went up 3-0 at half-time with goals from Ibrahima Konate (9’) and Sadio Mane (17’ and 45’), and managed to hold onto the lead despite City drawing back twice, thanks to Jack Grealish (47’) and Bernardo Silva (90+1’).
Chelsea, meanwhile, are the first team to reach the FA Cup final in three successive seasons (2019-20, 2020-21, 2021-22) since Arsenal (2000-01, 2001-02, 2002-03).
The Blues got the better of Crystal Palace in the semi-finals by a score of 2-0, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek (65’) and Mason Mount (76’) finding the back of the net.
The FA Cup 2021-22 final will be the first time Chelsea and Liverpool meet in the final of the tournament in a decade. The Blues claimed a 2-1 win in 2011-12.
