Borussia Dortmund will square off against arch-rivals Bayern Munich in the first Der Klassiker of the season in Bundesliga 2022-23 at the Signal Iduna Park on Saturday, October 8. The match will kick off at 10:00 PM Indian Standard Time (IST).
Under manager Edin Terzić, Borussia Dortmund head into the German Clasico high on confidence after securing an impressive 4-1 victory against La Liga outfit Sevilla in their Group G encounter in the UEFA Champions League in their last game. With six points from three matches, Dortmund are currently placed second in the Group G standings, three points behind table-toppers Manchester City.
However, Dortmund suffered a 2-3 defeat at the hands of Koln in their last Bundesliga fixture last Saturday. The Die Borussen have registered five wins and three defeats in the Bundesliga this season and are currently placed fourth in the standings with 15 points from eight matches.
On the other hand, reigning Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich thrashed Czech side Viktoria Plzen 5-0 in their Group C encounter of the ongoing UCL on Tuesday.
Leroy Sane netted a brace while Serge Gnabry, Sadio Mane and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting added one goal each to secure a dominating victory in the Champions League. With three wins on the trot in Group C, Bayern are currently leading the standings with nine points.
Meanwhile, Julian Nagelsmann’s Bayern have been inconsistent in the Bundesliga. With four wins, three draws and one defeat, the Bavarians are third on the Bundesliga standings, one spot ahead of rivals Dortmund due to a superior goal difference.
Bayern ended their four-match winless run in the Bundesliga with a 4-0 win over Bayern Leverkusen in their last outing on Saturday.
