The Argentina national football team will take on Bolivia in their final Group A match of Copa America 2021 at the Arena Pantanal in Cuiabá, Brazil on Tuesday, June 29.
Under the tutelage of Lionel Scaloni, La Albiceleste have already sealed their qualification for the Copa America quarter-finals. Led by their talismanic captain Lionel Messi, Argentina recorded successive 1-0 wins over Paraguay and Uruguay in their last two encounters after playing out a disappointing 1-1 draw against Chile in their opening fixture of the tournament.
With seven points from three games, Argentina are currently the table-toppers in Group A, and they will look to end the group stage with another victory under their belt.
On the other hand, the Bolivia national football team has been eliminated from the ongoing edition of Copa America after suffering defeats in all their three matches so far.
Bolivia, who are currently managed by former NorthEast United head coach Cesar Farias, will aim to pull off a massive upset by beating Argentina in their final group game.
Bolivia vs Argentina head-to-head in football
In the Bolivia vs Argentina head-to-head record in international football, the White and Sky Blues have clearly dominated the fixture, winning 28 of the 40 encounters between the teams. Meanwhile, Bolivia have managed to win just seven of those matches and five games have ended in a draw. Interestingly, Lionel Scaloni and his men are unbeaten in 16 matches so far and their last defeat came in the quarter-finals of Copa America 2019.
Bolivia team news and injury updates
Bolivia are likely to miss the services of their star defender Oscar Ribera, who is still recovering from an injury. Apart from Ribera, Cesar Farias has no other injuries and suspension concerns.
Argentina team news and injury updates
Having already booked their place in the knockout stage, Argentina might rest their captain Lionel Messi against a struggling Bolivia side. The 34-year-old FC Barcelona superstar has played the full 90 minutes in all of Argentina’s three group matches in just over a week.
Furthermore, six Argentina players including goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez, defender Lucas Martínez Quarta, midfielders Leandro Paredes, Giovani Lo Celso as well as forwards Lautaro Martínez and Joaquín Correa have been booked once, meaning they are just another yellow card away from missing the quarter-finals. Keeping in mind the knockout fixture to come, Lionel Scaloni will be tempted to rest some of his starters who are on a booking.
