Carles Cuadrat's Bengaluru FC will look to bounce back to winning ways when they take on Kerala Blasters in their fifth match of the Indian Super League 2020-21 season at the Fatorda Stadium on Sunday, December 13.
The Blues were held to a 2-2 draw by NorthEast United FC on Tuesday, and a solitary win in their last four outings means the team currently acquire fifth place in the ISL 2020-21 points table. Kerala Blasters, on the other hand, are one of the three teams who are yet to win a game in ISL 7. Losing two and drawing the rest, the team sit ninth in the standings and are in a desperate need of a victory.
Bengaluru FC vs Kerala Blasters head-to-head count dominantly favours the former as they have won four of their six encounters against the Tuskers. One game has gone Kerala's way, while one has ended in a draw. Kerala's only victory over Bengaluru FC came in ISL 2019-20 season where Bartholomew Ogbeche's brace guided the Tuskers to a 2-0 win in February 2020 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi.
In their six meetings against Kerala Blasters, the Blues have scored a whopping 11 goals, which translates to almost two goals per game. As far as Kerala are concerned, they have found the net on just six occasions. The Tuskers have been on a slump for a long time. They have, in fact, won just one of their last 10 ISL games, and that one victory was recorded against Bengaluru FC.
Bengaluru FC will square off against a defence which has leaked the joint-most goals (six) this season, and despite having the likes of Gary Hooper in the ranks, the Tusker have found the net just three times. The Blues, on their part, have issues of their own as they have scored just one goal from the open play. Furthermore, three of the four goals conceded by the Blues have come in the second half.
Judging by the look of things, Bengaluru FC are ought to be the favourite on Sunday.
