Defending UEFA Champions League champions Bayern Munich will hope to seal a place in the quarter-finals on Thursday, March 18, when they take on Serie A side Lazio in the UCL round of 16 second leg at the Allianz Arena.

The star-studded Bundesliga giants had an easy outing at the Stadio Olimpico in the first leg when they defeated Lazio 4-1, courtesy of goals from Robert Lewandowski, Jamal Musiala, Leroy Sane and Francesco Acerbi.

Though Joaquin Correa had pulled one back for Lazio, the Italian side will find it tough to overcome a three-goal deficit at Bayern Munich’s fortress. Watch Bayern Munich vs Lazio live!

Both the teams come into the fixture at the back of encouraging victories in their respective domestic leagues. While Munich dominated Werder Bremen in a 3-1 win at the weekend, Lazio stole a thrilling 3-2 victory against Crotone in Serie A.

Bayern Munich team news

Despite their goalscoring form, Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick comes into this fixture with injury concerns as midfielder Corentin Tolisso, winger Douglas Costa and centre-back Tanguy Nianzou will all be absent from the second leg.

To further complicate things, veteran defender David Alaba missed Munich’s weekend win over Werder Bremen and could miss the UCL fixture as well.

Lazio team news

Simone Inzaghi, on the other hand, has a better-shaped side for the UEFA Champions League fixture. Aiming to turn around a three-goal deficit at the Allianz Arena, Lazio are only likely to miss centre-back Luiz Felipe and right-back Manuel Lazzari.
