Atletico Madrid (ATL) host Liverpool (LIV) in a UEFA Champions League 2021-22 group stage Matchday 3 encounter at Estadio Wanda Metropolitano in the early hours of Wednesday, October 20. The match will kick off at 12:30 AM IST.
ATL vs LIV Dream11 prediction
Atletico Madrid are set to miss several of their first choice defenders which includes Stefan Savic and Jose Gimenez. The absence of these two central defenders will be enough for a fired-up Liverpool attack to get the better of the La Liga team. Even if not for the absence, Liverpool’s current form would make them automatic favourites.
Now, Liverpool may have lost their last two meetings against Atletico, but times have changed since. The Reds haven’t lost a competitive match since their 1-3 defeat to Real Madrid in last season’s Champions League quarter-final. And as we speak of their current form, Liverpool has scored at least three goals in seven of their last eight matches in all competitions.
ATL vs LIV Dream11 team tips for UEFA Champions League 2021-22
Top tip: Best forward
Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is in the form of his life. The 29-year-old has scored a goal in each of his last eight matches across all competitions and this includes a goal and an assist against Manchester City in a 2-2 draw. Luis Suarez remains another option to go with, but the safest bet will be on Mohamed Salah.
Top tip: Best midfielder
Sadio Mane, registered as a midfielder, should be the ideal choice here. The Senegalese, who recently bagged his 100th Premier League goal, has netted six times this season and Salah’s brilliance has somehow overshadowed Mane’s return to form. If there’s anyone apart from Salah who poses a massive goal-scoring threat for Liverpool, it has to be Sadio Mane.
Top tip: Best defender and goalkeeper
Trent Alexander-Arnold passed the fitness test for the Watford game and is likely to be involved against Atletico too. The young defender may have registered just two assists this season, but he remains the best bet for a goal involvement and a clean sheet from either defence.
Alisson Becker flew directly to Madrid following his late return from international duty and is primed to take his position between the posts back for Liverpool. Given the defenders the Brazilian has in front of him, he is likely to keep a clean sheet unlike his competition Jan Oblak.
