ATK Mohun Bagan will lock horns with two-time champions Chennaiyin FC in their opening fixture of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2022-23 on October 10 at the Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan, Kolkata. The match is scheduled to commence at 7:30 PM IST.
The Mariners have been one of the standout performers in the last two seasons post the merger of ATK and Mohun Bagan FC into one entity, ATK Mohun Bagan. They finished as the runners-up in the 2020-21 season and reached the semi-finals last time out.
However, ATKMB have had an underwhelming start to their 2022-23 campaign as they got knocked out in the group stage of the recently-concluded Durand Cup. The Juan Ferrando-coached side will look to make amends and begin their ISL season on a winning note.
On the other hand, Chennaiyin FC failed to qualify for the knockout stage in each of the previous two ISL seasons. Nonetheless, they have made some quality additions to their side ahead of the Indian Super League 2022-23, besides retaining the services of captain Anirudh Thapa and other key players.
A new-look Marina Machans side will look to come out all guns blazing and re-establish themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the ISL yet again.
ATK Mohun Bagan vs Chennaiyin FC head-to-head in Indian Super League
Since the inception of ATK Mohun Bagan in 2020, the two teams have met four times with the Kolkata outfit winning on two occasions. The other two clashes ended in stalemates, leaving Chennaiyin FC winless in head-to-head record.
