Arsenal will begin their Carabao Cup 2024-25 campaign against Bolton Wanderers at the Emirates Stadium in London, England.

Under manager Mikel Arteta, Arsenal will head into the fixture high on confidence after they secured a crucial point against four-time defending champions Manchester City in the ongoing Premier League at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

Erling Haaland gave Manchester City an early lead before new summer signing Riccardo Calafiori equalised for Arsenal in the 22nd minute. 

Gabriel Magalhães later made it 2-1 in favour of the Gunners before half-time break. However, John Stones scored in the final minute of the game to salvage a draw for Manchester City.

Having registered three wins and two draws, Arsenal are currently placed fourth in the Premier League 2024-25 standings with 11 points from five matches.

On the other hand, League One outfit Bolton Wanderers pipped Mansfield Town on penalties in the first round of the ongoing EFL Cup and later beat Shrewsbury Town 2-0 in the second round to set-up a clash against Arsenal.

Led by manager Ian Evatt, Bolton Wanderers defeated Reading 5-2 in an EFL League One fixture on Saturday.

With the win, Bolton jumped to 19th in the EFL League One 2024-25 standings with seven points from six games.

Meanwhile, Arsenal will miss the services of their Belgian forward Leandro Trossard, who was sent off against City for kicking the ball away while already on booking.

Furthermore, the likes of Martin Odegaard, Mikel Merino, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kieran Tierney will be unavailable due to injuries.

For Bolton, former Arsenal footballer Jordi Osei-Tutu will miss the fixture at the Emirates Stadium as he is still recovering from a knee injury.

The likes of Klaidi Lolos, Carlos Mendes Gomes, Will Forrester and Gethin Jones have also been ruled out of the upcoming Carabao Cup fixture.

Arsenal have previously won the EFL Cup twice in 1987 and 1993 while Bolton have finished runners-up on two occasions in 1995 and 2004.
