Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr aim for domestic treble in 2022-23 - full schedule 

Having signed Cristiano Ronaldo, Saudi Pro League football club Al Nassr have become the talk of the town. The Portuguese forward joined the Asian club after terminating his contract with Manchester United before the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar. 

Founded in 1955, Al Nassr are one of the most successful teams in Saudi football history. They have won 20 major domestic titles, including nine league titles, which places them second only to Al Hilal (won the league 18 times).

Al Nassr have also won the King’s Cup, Saudi Arabia’s domestic cup competition, six times. 

Earlier this season, the club appointed former Olympique Lyonnais manager Rudi Garcia as their head coach. The side have lost just one match since the Spaniard took over the duties and signed some prominent names in European club football like Luis Gustavo, David Ospina, Vincent Aboubakar and Talisca in the last two seasons. 

Five time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival will be a major boost for Al Nassr, who are currently leading the Saudi Pro League points table. However, Al Shabab are just one point behind and Al Nassr will hope that Ronaldo’s inclusion will hand them the edge in the title race. 

Ronaldo is expected to make his debut against Al Ta’ee on January 5 before the two title contenders face off at the Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium on January 14. 

Besides the league, Al Nassr are also in contention for two other domestic titles. They are the firm favourites to emerge with a domestic treble - winning the Saudi Pro League title, Saudi Super Cup and the King’s Cup - this season.
