Paris Saint-Germain will aim to keep their trophy hunt alive when they travel to Stade de la Mosson to face Montpellier in the semi-final of the Coupe de France on Thursday, May 13.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men have been far from their usual best in the 2020-21 season, crashing out of the UEFA Champions League and now are on the cusp of seeing their three-year winning streak in Ligue 1 coming to an end.

Montpellier, on the flip side, are coming off a morale-boosting 3-2 win at Strasbourg in the Ligue 1.

Montpellier vs PSG head-to-head record

Paris Saint-Germain enjoys a comfortable lead in the head-to-head record, with 29 wins in 65 matches across all competitions. As far as recent meetings are concerned, PSG have triumphed in four of the last five clashes including a 4-0 humbling in January.

Montpellier vs PSG team news

Montpellier will be without goalkeeper Jonas Omlin and defender Pedro Mendes for their upcoming Coupe de France semi-final match. La Paillade, however, will welcome back Florent Mollet and Teji Savanier from their respective suspensions.

Defending champions Paris Saint-Germain, record 13-time winners, will miss the services of the injured Juan Bernat and Presnel Kimpembe, who is suspended after receiving a red card against Rennes over the weekend.

Montpellier vs PSG probable playing XI

Montpellier probable XI: Dimitry Bertaud, Junior Sambia, Hilton, Daniel Congre, Mihailo Ristic, Teiji Savanier, Damien Le Tallec, Jordan Ferri, Gaetan Laborde, Andy Delort, Stephy Mavididi

Paris Saint-Germain playing XI: Keylor Navas; Mitchel Bakker, Abdou Diallo, Marquinhos, Alessandro Florenzi; Leandro Paredes, Ander Herrera; Marco Verratti, Kylian Mbappe, Neymar; Mauro Icardi

Montpellier vs PSG prediction

Paris Saint-Germain can solely focus on the Coupe de France, knowing that their hopes of retaining the Ligue 1 are over unless late drama ensues. Les Parisiens’ superior head-to-head record gives them the overall edge in this encounter against Montpellier, and despite being defensively shaky, Neymar and Co. are likely to sail through to the final.
