George and Acheampong led Chelsea's Conference League win

Chelsea grabbed a strong 3-0 win against Legia Warsaw in the first leg of the UEFA Conference League quarterfinal on Thursday, April 10. This gave the Blues a solid edge in their league title bid, as they sit comfortably at first place with 18 points.
After a slow first half, the goals came quickly in the second. Head coach Enzo Maresca praised his side for their ‘professional’ display, highlighting the younger players. Two academy graduates—Tyrique George and Josh Acheampong—stood out on the night with skills that helped seal the results.
Tyrique George’s first senior goal
Tyrique George scored early in the 49th minute of the second half. The 19-year-old forward slotted the ball into the net after the keeper pushed off Reece James’ long shot. This is his first senior goal for Chelsea and the first of the match. The winger himself felt delighted after his score, especially since it was his first one.
Maresca fell ‘in love’ with Acheampong
Josh Acheampong also made his senior debut this season and left a strong impression on Maresca. The 18-year-old showed an all-rounder performance, from being a full-back to a stand-out central defender. Maresca was full of praise for Josh, saying he ‘fell in love’ with him. ‘For me potentially he can be a fantastic player for this club and in football in general’, he added.
