Crypto twins invest $4.5M in Real Bedford FC

Billionaire twins Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss have put $4.5 million into Real Bedford FC. The team is a semi-pro club that hopes to reach the Premier League. The deal was first shared in April and was finished this week.
The Winklevoss brothers are known for their early Bitcoin deals and for starting the crypto exchange Gemini. They now have seats on Real Bedford’s board. Their money came through Winklevoss Capital.
Real Bedford plays in England’s eighth tier. Peter McCormack, a local businessman and crypto podcaster, bought the club in 2021. The team has moved up two levels in a row. McCormack and the Winklevoss twins believe Bitcoin can help the club grow.
The club wants to follow Wrexham AFC’s journey. Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney bought Wrexham in 2020. The team quickly moved up from non-league football to England’s third tier.
The Winklevoss twins first became famous for suing Mark Zuckerberg, claiming Facebook was their idea.
