La Liga has been graced by legendary figures down the years. From Raul and Beckham to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, all have left a mark in Spanish top flight for the world to watch.
Of all the stars that have played in the league, Lionel Messi is the one to score the most La Liga goals for a single club. He netted an impressive 474 goals in 520 appearances for Barcelona, helping them win 10 La Liga titles during his stay at Camp Nou.
Messi also holds the record for most hat-tricks (36) and four-goal hauls (5) in La Liga.
Another stalwart on the list is Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese superstar is the only player to score more goals than La Liga games played as his tally reads 311 goals in 292 matches.
Ronaldo has several records to his name from his nine-year stay in Spain, one of them being the fastest player to score 150, 200 and 300 La Liga goals.
Telmo Zarra is third on the list of most La Liga goals for a single club. The most decorated player in Athletic Bilbao history netted 254 times in 277 appearances. The club won its only La Liga title during the 1942-43 season with Telmo Zarra as their leading scorer.
Next up is Raul Gonzalez, the Real Madrid veteran, who came up the ranks of The Los Blancos youth system. The Spanish international scored 228 goals in 550 appearances for the club. The tally could have been way more had it not been for the constant injuries that plagued his career.
He is fondly remembered for his contributions during the 1997-98 UEFA Champions League season which helped Real Madrid claim their first European title in more than three decades.
Another Real Madrid forward in the list of most La Liga goals for a single club is Karim Benzema with 230 goals from 428 appearances, who also happens to be the only active player in the La Liga to score 200+ goals.
One can say that Benzema’s career started to flourish at Santiago Bernabeu after Cristiano Ronaldo left for Juventus post the 2017-18 season. Benzema has managed to score 20+ La Liga goals every season since then and has been pivotal to Real Madrid’s success.
