France midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni is currently the most expensive signing of summer transfer window 2022.
The young defensive midfielder swapped Ligue 1 with La Liga as he joined Spanish giants Real Madrid in a €100m deal from AS Monaco.
Tchouameni inked a six-year contract with Los Blancos, having turned down a strong approach from Paris Saint-Germain.
Aurelien Tchouameni, at 22 years of age, is seen as a long-term replacement for the long-serving Brazilian defensive midfielder Casemiro.
Having made his senior debut at Bordeaux in 2018 before joining Monaco, Tchouameni left Ligue 1 after featuring in the Team of the Year twice (2020–21, 2021–22).
Second on the list is Darwin Nunez. The Uruguayan striker joined Liverpool in a club-record deal expected to rise to €100m.
Nunez arrives after a two-season stint at Portuguese giants Benfica, where he registered 34 goals in 41 games in the previous campaign.
Liverpool fans see Darwin Nunez as someone who could replicate his compatriot Luis Suarez’s scoring exploits at Merseyside. The forward got his Liverpool career off to a confident start with a goal in the 3-1 win against Manchester City in the Community Shield.
Nunez is currently the English Premier League’s most expensive signing of the summer transfer window 2022.
Matthijs de Ligt’s €80m transfer from Juventus to Bayern Munich makes him the third most expensive signing of the summer transfer window 2022.
The Dutch defender departed after three years in Turin that saw him win the Serie A (2019–20), Coppa Italia (2020–21) and Supercoppa Italiana (2020).
Considered one of the most promising central defenders, Matthijs de Ligt opted to sign on from Juventus despite having two years remaining on his contract.
Erling Haaland has been the subject of transfer speculation since the turn of 2022. Despite completing a €75m transfer from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester City, the Norwegian forward is already tipped for a future move.
Haaland followed in the footsteps of his father Alfie Haaland to play for the blue half of Manchester, and the Leeds-born striker will hope to carry the goalscoring legacy left behind by Sergio Aguero and the recently-departed duo of Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling.
Brazilian attackers Richarlison and Raphinha complete the top six list for the most expensive signing of summer transfer window 2022.
Richarlison, for starters, left Everton to join Tottenham Hotspur on a five-year deal worth €70m. The striker is expected to form an attacking front three with club captain Harry Kane and South Korean star Son Heung-Min.
Raphinha was locked in a heavy bidding war between Chelsea and Barcelona for his signature from Leeds United.
While he had agreed on personal terms with Barcelona, Chelsea had reportedly agreed on transfer fees in principle.
But, with his heart set on playing at Camp Nou and his agent being former Chelsea and Barcelona star Deco, Raphinha finally secured a transfer to Barcelona in a deal worth €66m.
