Lionel Messi spearheaded the Argentine attack and was ably supported by his teammates. For his outstanding performance, Messi took home the biggest individual prize of the night, the Golden Ball. He became the first player to win this prestigious award twice, having won it previously in 2014.

At the age of 24, Mbappe already has 12 goals in two World Cups and only Just Fontaine has more goals in this tournament among French players.
