One of the most highly-anticipated esports tournaments, the Valorant China Evolution Series Act 1 Variation Play-In will start on September 12 and conclude on September 16 in China.

Organised by TJ Sports and Riot Games, the Valorant China Evolution Series Act 1 is an online B-tier esports competition. 

Regarded as the first official Valorant China Series, the Valorant China Evolution Series Act 1 will be contested in three stages - Qualifier, Play-In and Main Event. The winner of the tournament will progress to Act 2. 

Earlier, the Valorant China Evolution Series Act 1: Variation - Open Qualifier was held from September 7-10. A total of 37 teams participated in the open qualifier. 

The main event is scheduled to be held from September 23 to October 1.

The Valorant China Evolution Series Act 1: Variation has a total prize pool of ¥278,000 CNY, from which the winner will be awarded a cash prize of ¥100,000. The second and third-placed teams will get ¥60,000 CNY and ¥45,000 CNY, respectively.

Valorant China Evolution Series Act 1 Variation Play-In format

As many as eight teams will compete in the Valorant China Evolution Series Act 1 Variation Play-In esports tournament. These eight participating teams will be divided into two groups of four teams each.

The Valorant China Evolution Series Act 1 Variation Play-In will be held in a double-elimination format and every match will be contested in a best-of-three series.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the Valorant China Evolution Series Act 1: Variation main event.
