The Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) 2024 will commence in January, American video game developer and organiser Riot Games has revealed. 

Valorant Champions Tour 2024 is the fourth official tournament circuit by Riot Games. 

With the help of a YouTube video, Riot Games revealed a series of changes for VCT 2024. The video further highlighted the comprehensive plans, major developments, and improvements.

The fourth edition of VCT will have a new starting tournament to kick off the season. 

The upcoming season of VCT will witness the appearance of three new teams joining the franchise. Additionally, one new region will be added to the tour. 

The VCT 2024 has been divided into three different categories - Premier, Challengers, and International. Challengers will take place throughout the year, while Championship Points will also be introduced in the upcoming season.

As per the new format, VCT 2024 will begin with a two-week tournament for each international league. It will narrow down a total of eight teams that will go on to battle in Masters Madrid, the first global tournament of 2024. 

It will also be the first VCT that will be hosted in Spain to determine the best team of the year.

Furthermore, Challengers will expand its year-round calendar to offer more tier 2 esports competition. The VCT challengers will also launch a team affiliation and player loan system, allowing increased player flow between International Leagues, Challengers, and Game Changers. Valorant’s new Premier mode will act as an entry point into the VCT within the game.

The upcoming season will also see the number of teams battling in each region rise with the champions of the Ascension tournament from the previous season joining the respective International Leagues for VCT 2024.

The Guard, Gentle Mates and Bleed Esports are the three Valorant teams that have bagged a two-year promotion to the International Leagues.

China will become the fourth international league alongside the Americas, EMEA, and Pacific.

It has also been revealed that Shanghai will host the second Masters tournament of VCT 2024.
